Thank you! I'm Russian. And I was unsure when I wrote "inhabitable". I'm glad that HN-readers can understand what I wrote in my Runglish. (I suppose it's the same as when I reading Japanese VNs thru online translators)

"Love" is complicated matter. Java is almost done from "Love". Rails is done from "Love" of those who do not "love" java. Hype. I don't "love" java and Rails.

Almost every (large) country is practically empty. Japan - 4/5 of territory is inhabitable. China - the same. Russia - Siberia is almost inhabited.

I could not understand how classes can help with JSON-example. It looks the same as XML SAX vs DOM: you feed NN-Mb to DOM-parser (SQLServer xml-datatype for example) and you have problems. No matter: classes or functions.

I thought that "young" NoSQLs sometime in will got SQL interface. Look at old NoSQLs: Intersystems Cache got SQL interface, GT.M (in PIP-framework) also got SQL. My impression that MongoDB looks a lot like MUMPS storage with globals in JSON

Tell this FIS Global. There is absolutely no reason to make banking system on GT.M but they did. Although: GT.M is the only(?) NoSQL that is ACID-compliant.

Ha! And combination could be the best. 4-5 years ago in Moscow club OGI had "izba-chital'nia" (this means exactly library, but for sovkhoz-kolkhoz: a house with books for peasants). Drinks and food were terrible, but books were OK: in sever

It's interesting, but amphetamine and LSD are tooo different, I can imagine amphetamine as placebo for MDMA, but not for LSD.

>>That's a bit of a stretch. Can you imagine an "active placebo" for LSD, THK, methamphetamine (for example) ? "Placebo" must be a potent psychedelic or stimulator itself.

I don't know any theoretical explanation, but I try explain it. You see static String.Split and normal method Split of String objects. First method does not belong to string objects, it belongs to String class. String class is an object its

I like what Odersky did with statics in Scala. I agree that F# is not pure as Haskel and limited in comparison with OCaml and Haskel. But the things that works in F# are working fine. In comparison with Scala: curring (by design) and tail-c

Even more: 1. Common ascendants Scala is heavily influenced by OCaml and Haskel. F# is descendant of OCaml, heavily influenced by Haskel. 2. Past Don Syme designed generics for .NET. Martin Odersky designed generics for JVM. 3. Erlang influ

I've read this article in 2006. Even in this year it was obviously provocative. Now everybody knows that type inference, list comprehensions and lambda functions can reduce code. Even javers.

Autohotkey is great, but I think it's overkill for remapping a CapsLock. SharpKeys (if you're lazy) or registry hack (if you "smart"): https://sites.google.com/site/steveyegge2/effective-emacs are enough.
