Yup that is pretty much my experience of a dozen blue chips and banks. It is either all or nothing. A lot of this is Microsoft's fault due to how crap things were done back in the XP and earlier days and while we have moved on a lot of

Even for something so old and outdated? Because I have done consultancy work for some banks and have seen things (mostly incorrect data to be fair) changed in under half an hour once pointed out.

A change control request to setup a redirect on a site from 1998 that will have the absolute minimum possible impact to anything else isn't going to take more than a signature or two even in a company as large as Microsoft. It might ev

Apple's marketing has obviously worked better on me than I thought. I instantly translated MBA to Mac Book Air! I don't even own any Apple devices!

There are. I have only used a Lenovo flip tablet/laptop which was ok. The newer model seems to fix some of the things I disliked about it such as the keys on the keyboard recess into the body when flipped over. Really nicely engineered

Not seen any with SATA3, mine is PCIe and it is fast as hell but apparently the new MBP PCIe models are a little faster.

Yeah the type cover is quite decent but actually using the Surface with the type cover on my lap feels quite unstable at times which is why I couldn't get on with it. I love the idea of a detachable keyboard though and hope to see more

That is actually a pretty big improvement. Kudos to Microsoft. The Surface Pro 2 is a really nice machine if you are looking for a tablet/laptop hybrid however I still can't get myself away from a nice physical keyboard so settled

Yeah I am going to pop into Carphone Warehouse this weekend and have a good play with the 520. Visually I quite like Windows Phone but I want to try it out in person. I also need to check out the apps available for it. Obviously it is poor

I am really tempted to buy one of these but I am currently torn between this and a cheap android phone. I find myself using the "smart" features on my phone less and less mainly due to the fact I have been trying to lessen my addi

Sony manage to get pretty amazing battery life from their new Vaio Pro 11 and 13 models. I am really tempted to get one as it does pretty much everything I want from a high powered laptop and the price is pretty good in my opinion.

This reads like an advert more than anything. Bizspark is nice and all for the first three years but good luck after that when you get hit by those licensing costs. There is a reason there are hardly any successful Microsoft stack startups.

I don't care about Windows but Chrome OS is based on Gentoo so why the hell can't I just install some other Linux distro like I do on any other computer? It annoys me that it is coming to the end of 2013 and I still can't get

Ok I am pushing it a bit with the 128GB SSD but if you stick a standard HDD in there they should be able to keep it at £500 or less quite easily. There are similar spec machines in the 15" range from Acer and others for that sort of pr

The Acer C720 actually looks quite nice although AFAICT you still can't wipe and install your own OS? You have to use the same methods as we currently have like crouton.

Yeah I have been wanting to pick a Chromebook up for exactly the same thing. I can imagine Arch with Awesome being great on one but it seems Google have made it a pain in the ass to get rid of Chrome OS and stick something else on. While I

Yeah I saw it was provided in GPG4Win but I was hoping they provided a barebones installer for 2.x like they do for 1.x guess they don't. I might drop Werner a note and ask.

I know GnuPG-2 is preferred over GnuPG-1 now but I only see 1.x binaries available for Windows. Do they provide official 2.x binaries as well?

It is not disrespectful at all. Everybody heals in different ways. You do what you have to do to help yourself heal. I wish you and your family all the best and hope you find today easier than yesterday.
