WPF has had a major release not a year ago and is actively updated alongside .net framework updates[1]. It is featured prominently in all visual studio products. For that matter even winforms is still available. The Metro UI evolved into wi

You can say a lot of things about windows but abandoning apis isn't one of them. Windows is the king of backwards compatibility, for better or for worse.

No. You can be a senior java developer with great expertise with only a part-time job. There's nothing that prevents you from being at a senior level in multiple technologies or fields of study. More then that though, doing both comple

There are levels of expertise, even as a senior developer. I expect a full-stack senior developer to be able to lift a webapp from scratch (frankly I'll probably expect it even from an experienced junior full-stack developer in today&#

Errr... the cost value of Oracle database is skewed. It simply costs sooo much it's impractical for most companies to use, especially if they cannot afford more then 1 decent engineer. We are talking about 10000s of dollars per CORE (n

Indeed. These aren't very complicated subjects, it's easy enough to learn and doesn't require full-time work to become an expert with (and the same goes for backend web development), it merely requires constant practice and d

In a world with no SPA django is as much a front-end framework as it is anything else (just as JSP, ASP and a million other frameworks that render html on the server and send it).

I can tell you, from experience building multiple apps in production from scratch, that that's not the case. You practically never get to touch Obj-C or Java, and if you do it's usually to tweak a line or two in some third-party

I don't see why strategizing is a problem. Rather then ban it, encourage it, everyone should make the best strategy. Once everyone does, I think it will become clear that the best strategy is to choose the schools you want.
