Nice, thanks for sharing. A few points stroke a chord. Specifically... The definition of engineering manager who doesn't know how to do stuff and it's solution is very wishy-washy. Based on experience, this works in some contexts

I concur. While walking might be beneficial for the manager it'll be a problem long term (unless you think your memory is incredibly strong, which I doubt)

You should start way earlier in the process. If you get at that point you have almost no leverage and if you have to deal with people that don't listen to you. In my own experience it's a two-fold process: - one is the ability of

Risky. I've had a bad experience with a manager that on a similar opportunity set his own deadline and used that to put pressure on the team completely ignoring anything the team said. At the end his version was the team didn't de

I had exactly this kind of problems on an Audi I was renting in Switzerland where the car started suddenly braking while going 110 on a motorway. Freaked the shit out of me and the cars behind me as well. Wtf

To be honest as a mere user Wayland just works. But I had experienced some odd situations that received no attention whatsoever. While with X there was plenty of attention over these details, I do think it was honed over years of inefficien

While I think this might be something that piques my interest, while it does look quite bare in terms of tech inside, I am slightly worried about the software contract this will be sold as... Has anyone got an idea of what's the situat

AFAIK the addictiveness of the additives is a by-product, as far as I know these additives are used to increase the yield and "quality" of the crop, and to process the leaves once harvested. Whether these have been willingly added

It's interesting to see how this company somehow had it coming since it launched their card in the UK market last year, with the regulator breathing down their neck. It only got worse in the US with the current financial situation. I w

Article's a bit of a mish-mash. Mostly points finger at Afterpay and the dark patterns it used both in the marketing campaigns and in app. Unfortunately it also misses one major point aside from the lending regulation and reporting of

I'm going to add my 2¢ here: the main reason for not using _blank is to give users the ability to choose whether they want to open links in a new tab or not. More widely, from a UX perspective its use, as with any action the user can p

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. My main problem with the design doc would be how to cater for changes (e.g. due to technical reasons) that are found later on during the implementation phase: as suggested this would require a complete

It's crazy to me that the team dedicated to AMP had no control and awareness of any schemes were pulled behind their back. This is such a huge org problem. Unless, of course, the team leadership was on it and this was an insider job.

Yes, and no. They use what's available and what gets them in front of the users. IMO I don't see anything wrong with that. The problem comes if they don't provide any other way to access their information.

I don't even think AMP is the problem. It feels more like an symptom. So the question really goes as: what's the actual problem? To keep it very short, it really does feel like to be around how the ad revenue works on the web. But

Well that skews things a little bit then. If the Twitter account is not theirs and everybody is looking at it, why haven't they come forward saying: "oh, hey, so, the Twitter account? We don't own it anymore..."
