So I just started playing around with d3 and I can't believe how easy it is to make neat visualizations like this. The code behind it is somewhat sloppy but should be easy enough to change if anyone wants to use it.

Actually I think cost of living increases and inflation are fine to bring up when asking for a raise. If you don't get a raise to match inflation they are effectively paying you less than last year, which only makes sense if your job p

I wonder what those people are thinking, it's blatantly obvious that the only reason this guy got funding was because of the novelty. It's like when Twitch Plays Pokemon came out there were tons of copycat streams, none of them ca

So we should teach the students old stuff because it's easier on the teacher? This isn't history, the tech world is changing daily with new languages and technologies being created. Sticking to one curriculum because it's eas

I assure you there are many that are. My first year at uni was filled with classmates that could barely operate a computer, there were many like myself that already had a good handle on programming and cs fundamentals but we weren't th

Ruby is great for webdev, RoR is insanely popular so if that's your route you'll do fine. Ruby doesn't really do anything else well however, Python is pretty much a jack of all trades with a massive library ecosystem. It'

I think Python is the perfect first language for beginners. Yea we all know it's not fast or low level or the best language to teach about types or advanced CS topics etc. But it is extremely readable and easy to understand, it makes c

.NET developers aren't real developers? Most people in the game industry also swear religiously by windows/visual studio, apparently games are "real" software anymore.
