Another reasons is that music makes it less awkward, most streamers aren't talking 100% of the time and there will be awkward silences. Also, for me at least, the addition of music makes it more of a casual viewing experience. I'l

Except Ubuntu and Chrome are both really good products while still being fashionable. I'd use Sublime any day of the week over Gedit even if it wasn't "cool"

Also if you want to be taken serious you shouldn't be advising people to use a trial version for free without paying. I guess you can legally say you're trying it out for any amount of time but it's still unethical.

I'd say everyone is a bit high, people that post on HN for sure and most technical users but I doubt that the average facebook user knows or cares about any of that.

Or maybe thats the minimum amount of time they need for the service to function and they're planning on working out the kinks later.

Can't you just block that by using noScript? Or is this an issue because you have to use noScript to block it? Genuinely curious as all I use is an ad blocker and have no experience with noScript.

I have no idea either, they say if you take the review down you get your money back. I'd just take it down and wait to receive my deposit then post the bad review afterwards. If they still charge me somehow(holding my cc), then they&#x

Reminds me of a recent remark[1] by an FBI executive about how the federal governments drug testing policy was hampering their ability to get leading cyber-security expects on staff. A policy that very few top technology companies share. Ob

That may be the case honestly, I tried LightTable for a few weeks about a year ago and it was somewhat slow, it may well have gotten better. I tried atom a week ago and it was extremely slow, much slower than LightTable. Almost 30s startup

I think the main thing is that even if you literally don't care what the fuck happens with your code you should at least make a statement that absolves you of responsibility, such as "THIS SOFTWARE COMES WITH NO WARRANTY" etc

Light Table and Atom both run on node and they're pretty slow/jerky for me. Slow enough where I'd rather use IntelliJ for general purpose editing, intellij has a decent startup time compared to those two but it's way fas

I hadn't heard of Servo until just now, googled it and it looks really neat. Could you elaborate on what things you think Servo does better than current rendering engines?

I'd have to agree, while not exactly the same, Google's closure compiler only starts to take a noticeable amount of time when you get into the thousands of lines.

So when i'm programming I find myself spending far more time thinking about what to type next than actually typing it, seems to me like there isn't much to gain by learning vim/emacs or am I missing something?

I think the title is a tad bit misleading, I saw this and immediately thought "Why would anyone even ask? It's obviously rails" then I checked the link and saw that they meant the Standard Library.

These numbers are seriously mind boggling a DAU count of 829 million is close to 1/8th of the worlds population. Even more impressive when you consider the fact that only about 3 billion even have internet access. ~1/3 of the peop
