I am aware of the claims and the "news" sources regurgitating them. The evidence Kiwifarms is responsible for anything is remarkably shaky (lots of use of the term "has been linked to" and no real evidence for anything).

Sure, I guess. In my view some are way too lax, others way too controlling. The fact the some fall into one extreme doesn't discount those that fall into the other.

women are the traditional gatekeepers for sex. All the "misogyny" handwaving in the world does not alter that fact. It's why the response numbers for men and women on dating apps are what they are

why is it "weird, creepy shit"? I think it's gross when people sleep around a lot and it's a major turn off. I don't see it as being any worse than finding someone attractive or not based on any other characteristic

Fully with you on that one. The fact of the matter is that most "free" content is fast food style content - you eat it because it's designed to be addictive. Consumers may feel like they want it, but that's just because

It seems like the process could be - do a thing, see positive results (maybe from improved outlook), interpret it as gods reward for pleasing him, codfiy the practice.

I'll have to check that out. It's something I (as an atheist) feel as well. There seem to be a number of religious practices which align quite nicely with mental health practices. The ones that immediately spring to mind are respo

There's a fundamental difference between you sending files to a company server which are then scanned, and your own hardware constantly monitoring you for illegal activity so that it can report you to the authorities.

I understood them back when my parents bought a Dyson bagless vacuum back in the early 2000s (iirc). It was high tech, powerful (I still remember them showing me how much more dust and dog hair it pulled out of the carpet), and advertised n

Couldn't agree more. Furthermore, as an outside observer looking in to the US medical system, it seems to be set up in a specifically callous way that ruins lives and ensures all but the wealthiest face the prospect of financial ruin i

I feel completely to opposite, though admittedly I am a hardliner on ads (I think they're a scourge). I make every effort to eliminate and automate them out of my life. Some things I'll pay for, others I'll ad block, and othe

One piece of advice I read in some charisma book and repeat constantly at work is to always make the point of any email you send the very first sentence. It is so tempting to waste a bunch of time "softening" the blow of whatever
