Is this a serious article? How on earth did this pass editing and review? I guess the author might also want to propose just banning breaking the law while we're at it.

Your advice is OK for when you are doing a one-off, simple thing. In general, though, streaming abstractions leave that paradigm in the dust once things get become just a tad more complicated. Using streaming abstractions, you can reason ab

The problem is that people seem to focus on some tiny aspect that it might improve, like "how easy it is to deal with data of varying shape", ignoring the fact that by ignoring the problem, you aren't making it go away. You a

No, neither do I and neither do most people. The music is what matters. If you want to look at the album art, nothing is preventing you from simply finding the picture and staring at it. What a stupid, meaningless thing to rant about and wh

I just recently started using Prisma for a work project and so far I am very pleasantly surprised. I don't think I'll ever want to use something like TypeORM or similar again. We also used their Nexus library to set up a graphql

You're right. The person saying this would be a breakthrough doesn't understand what this is doing. There are already similarly declarative tools which can accomplish this. Haskell has binary parsing libraries which work similarly

What are you complaining about exactly? That your package manager doesn't automatically know you've installed something manually?

This has little do with pandoc and everything with how awfully Haskell packages are packaged for some distros. Imagine if installing a program that runs on node would pull in every single npm dependency as its own package.

I think that is possibly why this post is valuable. That is, the OP isn't some kind of remarkable genius. He's just an average person who was in the right place at the right time. I think it perhaps also goes to suggest that some

My 2 cents: anyone selling themselves as an X programmer would immediately lose points as far as I'm concerned if I were hiring. Programming languages are tools. Being a C programmer is like being a hammer woodworker. It makes no sense

What a vapid, shallow and uninteresting article. Congratulations, you just gave technical debt another name. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Maybe you should try reading up on the subject matter next time before writing a blog

This is a great solution to what is mostly a non-problem. It's also not the first one of its kind. Regular expressions should be used so sparingly that you don't need an entire library to write them safely. If you're ever wri

Shifted semicolon is absolutely a non-issue. If there are any problems with the layout, it's hiding the symbols behind altgr, but the shifted semicolon is really not a problem.

I disagree. I have been writing code with the icelandic layout for over 20 years and it has really never been an issue for me. You put your right thumb on altgr and hit the number keys.

I don't think that's reasonable to think at all. Literally no one I know locally that is also a programmer uses the American layout. The difficulties of inputting symbols with ex. altgr is overstated. I really don't think mos

The last point has nothing to do with the language really. At least not the shape of the enter key. On Nordic layouts you usually have an extra key left of Z for angle brackets. There really is no reason to switch between actual physical ke
