Exactly. If the bandwidth was being used for non-TOS-breaking activity (maybe he is a particle accelerator hobbyist, or whatever), it sounds like it wouldn't have been a problem. Verizon called to ask what he was doing to use that ki

There’s a “house” a couple of miles from mine which is actually a power sub-station. It's located in a heavily wooded, up-scale neighborhood, and would have looked really out of place if it wasn't concealed. But, the fake house s

Ouch, that hurts. Pre-internet, early 80s, I had my first computer, a Commodore 64. I was pretty active on the local BBS's and some long distance ones via an open modem relay I discovered at a local General Motors plant while wardiali

The progress and usefulness of Vagrant (and Docker, too, for that matter) never stops impressing me. Thank you for your work!

I remember reporting impersonation as a problem to the gitolite project years ago and was told in no uncertain terms that I just didn't understand the distributed nature of git (which was true at the time).

If they chose ruby, python coders might not like it. If they chose python, ruby coders might not like it, etc. By using Go, it avoids a lot of existing biases. I think that's what that slide is referring to.

The article mentions that the "webcam sex" involves people paying to watch, via webcam, actual sex. Very different situation.

Nice. I'll also echo what DougWebb said, Improvely is a great looking site.

Is it a terrible idea? Yes. Do I do it anyway? Yes. Do I do it with non-mainstream projects I've never heard of? Nope. Does that make it ok? No, of course not, but that's the level of risk I'm willing to accept. It&#x27

I'm not disagreeing, but genuinely curious: what do astronomers call the "solar wind" in other systems? Referring to every wind by the star's name would seem odd.

Shouldn't be an issue, a doctype declaration is optional in html5. Are you aware of anything not working correctly without it?

Much the same, here. For some reason the font rendering on my Ubuntu machine seems sub-par (only in the editor, the preview pane looks good). The Windows and Mac versions don't have that problem.
