FWIW I wanted this laptop for a while and a big blocker for me was a lack of Linux support at the time. AFAIK a bunch of people have been working for a while to get this specific machine working with Linux. To me it's pretty cool.

I was a college student so I couldn't afford one of those - I had a 100 GB SATA MLC SSD that read at like 100 MB/s - this was ~2007ish when SSD were still new from a consumer perspective.

Yeah agreed - why does a government issued phone or device need anything more than what is necessary to perform their job? They are compensated enough to have a separate non-work phone.
