Because that would cause cascade of tens or even hundreds of http requests just to download the html. On the other hand new JS modules work like that, this is less of a problem on http2 and also can be mitigated by tooling.

How much faster is it? I saw a few random videos comparing Vulkan vs. DX11, and the difference was usually in the 10% range in both ways (sometimes Vulkan won, sometimes DX won).

From my experience majority of async functions that I used are from the fs package and for that, there is nice wrapper called fs-promise (1) which converts all the functions from callbacks to promises. For other stuff, I just create my own

It does not, it is still about 5 times slower than Sublime (just random measurement of how long it takes to start editor & initialize workspace on my machine). But speed is good enough that VS Code became my main editor.
