The article has several issues of 'drama' regarding TeX. All of these issues are just contrived to have drama for the sake of drama; none of these issues is a serious comment about TeX. I discuss six such issues: Issue 1. The article has:

What nearly killed IBM was (1) their devotion to their 'mainframes' and (2) Intel, AMD, Microsoft, Sun, HP, Oracle, Gateway, Dell, Cisco, Juniper, Micron, Seagate, Western Digital, EMC, AOL, etc. In particular in three years near 1994 they

An old remark was, "Never argue with someone who buys ink by the barrel", of course, meaning that never argue in print with a newspaper. Well, now there should be an update: "Never argue in public with a community that communicates at a tri

The article is pushing, pushing HARD, on a particular point of view: "Sex is normal and okay and should be enjoyed well before marriage and age 18". Well, in the US in this year 2011, heavily this point of view is in actual fact DANGEROUS.

" The idea that they're not seriously pushing for this is flawed." Yes. Not everyone has to be 'in' on the scam. You seem to have some information that the WH will be for some such bill; that's more than I've known. Biden? Yes, he would g

Yes. I agree that maybe the more likely danger would be something a little bad instead of something horribly bad. But, consider my (humorous) scenario: First-cut, the worse the Hollywood Dream Act is, the more donations get from people who

Let's see, we're ready for another exciting episode of 'Hackers Go to Washington' or 'As The Real World Turns': Step 1. At a fancy lunch spot on Rodeo Drive a lobbyist gets with someone in Hollywood, and they talk about a Hollywood dream la

Guys, sorry you didn't like my jab at the NYT. But basically Groxx was correct: The article is "FUD" and "non-comprehending journalism". We can see what was seriously wrong with the article mostly just by looking at the article: The title

Glad you learned some math in college. Commonly in K-12, the best 'math' taught is plane geometry because there, at least when it's a theorem proving course instead of paper cutouts, which sometimes happens, can see in clear terms the roles
