I've found this type of advice is easily misunderstood. Most people don't know how to not get offended. So either they try suppress their feelings (and feel depressed) or they defend themselves by lashing out at you. It takes an incredible

Another important lesson especially for techies is that being right isn't enough. You also have to persuade people and sell your idea, and in some ways that is the hardest part. I have often thought rms should step down and let Eben Moglen

I've just read half of it & I'll probably end up finishing it because it's so interesting. But I really dislike the implication that leadership skills (purpose, reliability, equanimity) are intrinsically male, while childishness is intr

Adding to this, maybe "true" is a bit of a loaded word. Newtonian mechanics works just as well today as it ever did. I prefer to think of it in terms of usefulness. 18th century knowledge is like a Pentium 3 that we just don't want anymore.

The article equates them in the sense of "not being distracted" ... I think it's correct enough. You can work on them separately, or at the same time. Concentration practice develops mindfulness as a side effect, and vice versa. You can't g

They are just being polite. For $2B a year I doubt they care what the public thinks. And anyway every corporation does it. Talk to your congressman.

Presumably youtube's userbase has grown since then. Also Psy's song likely has more international appeal than either of those.

Until next version of windows when it's completely locked down. Look, if you're Microsoft & you want to own the entire platform like Apple, you can't just lock it down from day 1. You need to slowly "educate" the users and measure how m
