I wasn't trying to keep it secret; I've just already mentioned in other comments that I work at the Washington Post. Most of what I was relating I've heard from other journalists I've met, I just haven't really talked to any coworkers about

Generally Arrington hasn't been respected by the journalists I've met. He covers companies and fields he has a direct financial interest in, he's OK with posting rumor and innuendo, and he can be sensationalist. The first one is a big probl

Because the dotfiles homepage says "Latest files uploaded" and lists dates that are three years old. If it's not dead, it's apparently working to give that impression.

It's not a pitch to get money. I've been pondering this blog post for a while since I noticed the difference in a bookstore, and linking to Amazon was a hundred times easier than finding all the books on the websites of their respective pub

Sorry I left you with that impression, I certainly didn't mean to. I only mentioned those as great ways to shoot yourself in the foot when you don't have the patience/skill to do the Right Thing. Sounds like you're better prepared to write

Something a little like this happens on our elections app: politicians have a name and party, but sometimes run in an election under a different name (eg. "Robert" runs as "Bob") and party (eg. Joe Lieberman lost his primary but won in the

The correct fix for the guy with two locations was to remove the location_id column and create a join table from People to Locations. The correct fix for the guy outside was to alter the Location model to accomodate that, which included mak

My dad runs a small web design/hosting business, most of his customers are local business. This is exactly the process he goes through to find almost all of his clients. There was a big wave of this in '96, people going door-to-door to sell

Can you find any examples where libertarianism has failed, instead of saying that people have failed libertarianism? If not, it's a religion rather than a political philosophy.
