not sure i'm convinced by the economics of this. amateur investors would compare this to other more standard investment options. let's say they invest a typical seed amount of $25k. assume they could earn approx 10% a year via "safe" invest

yes it's a concern but not enough to stop launch (assuming a base level of usability in the current design). you can redesign after launch and track how it improved conversion rates.

How slowly things change. depends on the context. for huge macro level projects e.g. iPhone reshaping cell phone industry or FB having Google size revenue, ebay's network effects being broken, that all takes time. but in the same time per

Every system has two sets of rules: The rules as they are intended or commonly perceived, and the actual rules ("reality"). In most complex systems, the gap between these two sets of rules is huge. i don't think it's possible to overstate

if you're shy, you must have an extroverted co-founder. i always find meeting founding teams where all founders are shy an especially underwhelming experience.

i've seen many people have this approach and misuse to-do lists. plenty of people will whizz through the peripheries first so they feel a sense of accomplishment and then wonder why they're up until 3am working on the big things.

this is exactly what happens at YC, I dont think anyone has demanded that they be allowed to sit in the yc interviews and participate in choosing the yc teams. so you're saying that there's no selection process before the companies stand
