Sorry it's probably just me but there is nothing syntactically obvious about ownership to me in the example you gave other than the names you gave things.

I think if you're overly using dynamic scoping in clojure you are probably doing it very wrong. I used clojure professionally for a number of years and I can't remember ever really using it.

Also this is not necessarily a universally bad thing. For example if I need to work through something from first principles as opposed to instant recall I may develop a more novel understanding. Anecdotally I have found a number of individu

It's actually quite pleasing to see much health debate in these comments. Shows life in this amazingly powerful language.

Honestly, if people continue to conflate human development with a mega corps trawling copyright material to build a mathematical model and then wrap it up and charge a subscription for it, then there's really not much you, I or anyone

Circa 80% of world trade is done in USD, and the US literally creates it out of thin air, and it will all bleed into the economy somehow, someway. Without sovereign protection you just can not compete with that, ever. It's really that

Because they mentioned it, why on earth would you think that is not a valid response in a thread that mentions it, from my observation that's pretty much how forum like threads work. More pressingly why do you think you should police i

Why, what was wrong with code completion, it was perfectly valid before even when including some sort of fuzzing. It's like everything to do with LLM marketing buzzword nonsense. I really want to just drop out of tech until all this ob

Interesting bit of synchronicity. I was recently looking into Erlang in the context of large scale data distribution and was wondering if instead of everything is a file everything is a process would be more appropriate. The rationale was t

I don't necessarily think the ideas themselves are wrong but rather the devil is in the details. A good example is the DSL one. In reality every significantly complex software system is essentially a DSL, it will have it's own col

They don't have to, but question was why it takes 100mb and you got the answer. You may additionally ask why Electron, but that's a different question after all.

What are you taking about, is not artificially deterministic, it is like that by design. We are fortunate that we can use a logic to encode logic and have it for the most part so the same thing given a fix set of antecedents. We even want t

And if you borrow that money is even better because they just created the money for you to add to the GDP, and now it will have lots of sweet service fees and interest in top of that. And on a side note because US dollars are the reserve cu

The Core were good but also AMD fumbled with bulldozer which left them floundering until the Zen era. AMD has been doing pretty well from a strategic point of view, specifically in high volume data centre SKUs, and so it's hard to see

JSON is derived from JavaScript, it is not a strict subset. The most glaring issue is JSON number type versus JavaScript float. This causes issues in both directions whereby people consistently believe JSON can't represent numbers outs
