You can do that in Java with the DCEVM but the latest release is slightly out of date so you have to compile the whole OpenJDK yourself. I blame Oracle for not integrating it in the OpenJDK.

There are also very simple usecases: Graphics tablets with screens are pretty expensive (Wacom). With AR it would be possible to simply use a bigger and cheaper one without a screen.

400bytes? Seems to be the absoulute minimum because Parallel Universe also claims that Quasar's fibers only use 400 bytes.

That's actually how the auto assembler in CE works. It replaces the selected instruction with a jump to a code cave and places a jump back to the original code at the end.

There are some mobile game sdks that use lua like gideros and corona. It's possible to do live coding in a simulator if you use zerobrane studio but I'm not sure if it's possible on a real phone.

I haven't tried Groovy but in my opinion Ceylon strikes a nice balance between Scala and Java.

That game reminds me of Shores of Hazeron. It was a neat little game where you essentially strand on a planet and start building your own city until you can build a rocket to leave the planet and explore the rest of the solar system. Then

But from a distribution perspective it's terrible compared to the web where you just need to type in the url into your browser. There is no central installer, that means you either have to ship NW.js(about 100MB) for every application

Switching from vim to emacs should be pretty easy if you use evil mode. This article is from 2008 though. Evil mode is pretty recent. The initial commit was in 2011
