I just wrote a post about a quite similar experience. I feel like if a candidate takes a few hours to complete a test the feedback could be a slightly more involved process but from the hiring side it doesn't really scale. https:/

I'm just wrapping up an Agile project, truly agile, and it was actually quite fun. At the start they tried to get us to use Scrum and 2 week sprints and I pushed back. We had basically no fixed meetings except a weekly sync and a coupl

I think the other thread here is even outside your average minimum wage job the link between work and reward is broken. Holders of capital can speculate on property/real estate and make more (illiquid) money than a worker in a full yea

Thanks, this is a useful distinction. As I clarified elsewhere it would maybe be more accurate as: "If we are subject to a lawsuit due to something you did while working for us then you have to pay an unlimited amount of costs we incur

It's sort of the only way to do remote working internationally as far as I know, other than having a company open a legal entity/business in every location they employ developers. The risk is for companies without a dedicated lega

That's a fair point, I was simplifying/exaggerating for effect. What I wanted to flag was that if you transition from a FTE in your country's legal framework to a contractor in order to work remotely one might not be familiar

This is what inspired me to write this: https://d22qefpbdavdoz.cloudfront.net/#let-me-work We're working the wrong way across the industry, developers are being cut-off from the processes they are instrumental in. None

I'll try and respond to your points but hopefully without omnislashing. On 1) I think that's why this post in particular triggered the question. I don't even conceptually understand what vim and emacs are . Like there are te
