I've been enjoying running Mint on my terrible spec chromebook - it only has 3GB of RAM, but it rarely exceeds 2GB used with random additions and heavy firefox use. The battery life is obscenely good too, I easily break 20 hours on it

Very much yes. When "affordance" was one of the primary goals, rather than "breathing room". Information density took a nose-dive and we lost all visual separation and gained... what? Less battery life?

iOS UX-affordance has done an incredible reversal from "one of the best" to "unambiguously the worst" over the years :| it's stunningly unapproachable nowadays, and Android seems excited to follow them

Literally the only pre-commit hook I've ever "liked" has been one to look for files over ~1/2MB, and error with a message describing how to bypass the check (env var). It stops the mistake at the easiest-to-identify p

I can add anecdata for the factory profile being very over-red - it's quite obvious out of the box. Not as bad as many Samsung OLED phones you see in stores (typically set to some crazy "enhanced" mode), but it's certai

Python has formalized magic comments. You can run a third party linter on those comments, but you must hope that they're correct. There are usually some checks for that, but they're only reliable in trivial cases. This is not sta

I'd call some null-pointer-lint-with-automatic-fixes tools "vibe coding" tbh. I've run across a couple that do a pretty good job of detecting possible nulls and add annotations about it and that's great... but then
