Erlang's VM is great, Erlang the language isn't imo. Elixir just did it better imo and this person seemingly can't stand that people seem to like it more. Let people like the things they like :P I'm really not sure this

The thing is finding the terminology, in the case of Redshift that is Sort Key, Distribution Key and primary key (though these aren't true primary keys they do influence the query planner). It took me a few minutes but I found indexes

I really like the concept, I look forward to seeing more diverse projects added to the index. I looked for, embedded stuff, virtual reality and high frequency trading and got 0 hits on all of em :(

I think we may be passing each other on the word tech workers -- do you mean everyone who works in a tech company, including customer support, sales, marketing, operations etc or are you defining tech workers as just the people who work wit

It's almost like startups have non technical workers that also have an equity stake in the companies they work for. This comment strikes me as almost entirely out of touch. No one expects these results, most people never see a startup

Fair point Dang, and it seems it's been flagged twice so the community has spoken and I'm fine to abide by that. :)

My good friends and I have an inside joke that when we get a new laptop we either show it to each other or take a picture and just go, "But my laptop is soooooooo thin!" I think that started because at one point thinness was the o

And the US government should bring a case against them. I don't think you'll find me inconsistent in that thought, I also argued an ISP yesterday that blocked FB is fully within its rights to do so. Personally I think we need anti

I agree. I see a lot of people pushing to give them special status or make them town squares and I think that is the exact opposite solution we need. We should take anti-monopoly action and foster competition in their respective markets ins

My understanding is multiple posts on Parler did match our incitement laws even up to planning events to come in the next few weeks.

Parler may sue to have their site reinstated, which they are, I don't see an issue here. If these companies were wrong to take them down the courts will force these companies to reverse it. I don't think they will though because m

This was flagged dead. I vouched for it. There is nothing in here that is beyond discussion imo and we are still well into a situation in the US that requires discussion like this and this is a sufficiently nuanced take.

Yawn. Sure, like any ideal. I feel like you thought this would be revelatory. There exists a spectrum, I'd like to see us lean freer. Or at least not do weird back handed crony capitalism and just come out and nationalize.

Ah see, I disagree that an ISP is in itself an adhoc communications system. An ISP hooks up the wires, lays and maintains the infrastructure for web connections for which you can build communications on but are not in themselves sufficient

Yup, I was kind of amazed at how the situation played out a few years ago with Wheeler and then onto Pai. You don't need the same type of net neutrality laws if you just make them utilities, but ISPs of course know this and made sure t

I agree a private business may do what they will within the bounds of our laws, so yes, but my framework for how I handle this would have ISPs regulated as natural monpoly which would make them a utility without that choice and that takes c

I stand by the actions of Facebook, Twitter etc, I'd agree this ISP has the same rights. Now where I could see it getting interesting is if consumers in the area don't have an alternative way to access content. I'd say if tha
