I've gone from Hayward to Mountain View quite a few times and know all about it, so hats off to you for actually taking public transit for that trip! I'm too lazy, so I'd drive, and it's still about an hour each way in

This looks awesome, but I would be hesitant to try it since you can't know if Google will keep the service alive a few years from now.

I'm not sure of this, but if I recall, voicemail minutes were free for me back then on Cingular.

And how you able to tell the difference between the 4 and 4S? Are you looking at the seams in the antenna?

He means that you don't contribute anything to open source, which is what you said. I don't think the guy was trying to be rude.

I don't really believe Apple's going to make a watch, but if they did, I would expect it (for third party apps) to simply be a UIScreen that would launch the app on your iPhone if you tapped it. I wouldn't expect much interaction beyond tha

It's nice and simple. I'm definitely going to use this. Only suggestions I have: - When I've sent a link to someone and go back to it later, it would be nice to see who I sent it to - I don't understand what Saved Links are or how to save

I was actually looking for something exactly like this and was considering building it myself. Thanks!

I always wanted to build a Github for guitar tabs, where people could fork the tab for a song and improve it and contribute it back.

I grew up in the South too (Memphis, TN) and I live in Silicon Valley. It's kind of hard to elaborate on this, but I would say that Californians keep to themselves more than Southeasterners (people in Texas are a totally different story th

Polishing it up as a category is a good idea; I might do that tomorrow. But yeah, the point of all this is that you can't set a default browser in iOS.

It sounds like a lot of overhead, but it's really quite simple. Objective-C is a bit verbose for a Hacker News comment, so I put it up as a Github Gist: https://gist.github.com/3080870 As for making a Settings bundle, that's pretty easy

I like the spirit of this idea, but I don't think the code is complete. I installed Chrome but do not want it to be my default browser. If apps started doing this, I'd just uninstall Chrome. A better choice would be to present a UIActi

The Jack in the Box near my house has a touchscreen machine you can use to order food. My order was perfect, but navigating the UI was much slower than simply saying what I wanted.

I want a Retina Display Mac as badly as anyone, but I'm trying to not get my hopes up too much. Apple is famous for being secretive, even amongst themselves. They are also consistent with their design patterns in Cocoa. If/when the Retin

As an iOS developer, I've been surprised all along that the SDK gives you full access to the address book without asking for permission (like Core Location and the Apple Push Notification Service). I've always thought that would one day ch

The proposed responses are kind of funny, but I sort of like the idea of having a new status code range in development mode, or at least a standard set of headers for stuff like stack traces, etc. A lot of times when I'm consuming a REST AP

I like this idea; it's really cute, but it asks a few too many personal questions just to make a phone call. It made me a bit uncomfortable a few pages in.

you guys make a good point on the design not needing to change. the iPhone 4 chassis design is essentially perfect as far as I'm concerned. the letdown, i think, is in the excitement of something that looks new, just like the excitement

I was hoping for an iPhone 5 with a new design, but I'm still very excited about this. The extra processing power combined with the low level speed improvements in iOS 5 are going to be HUGE for app developers. The only letdown for me is s

I still find FastCells useful if you're laying out cells with lots of subviews, even on modern iOS devices.
