I know exactly the sort of person who would send me a video instead of a text message, and I am glad that (right now) they can't.

Fun story: up until a couple years ago, my employer ran the entire company (manufacturing) with software running on a PA-RISC mainframe. I wish I could have taken that machine home when they took it offline.

Don't forget the lithium batteries, which could cause serious damage if they entered the wing fuel tanks and decomposed.

You may also need to open the files from Stuffit, rather than just double-clicking, as they may have lost their type and creator codes. You should also get Disk Copy to mount disk images.

D'oh, I had a haiku screenshot selected at first, but then I picked that one because it had more stuff on it. Didn't notice it was a BeOS one.

The screenshots are scaled a bit. They look better full-size: https://osvoyager.files.wordpress.com/2018/10/dano-people-in...

I was talking about this: "when touching a button the effect is delayed by a few seconds so you're not technically getting any result from touching the button while still getting the effect from touching the button."

I always find these things kind of funny. How important are these rules if god is so easily tricked?

The build on rust nightly is failing. The stable build is fine.

Probably not that big a deal. An operator/program can easily damage a CNC mill by jogging a substantial tool (or the spindle itself) into solid material, which is a much more likely scenario.

The sdrforengineers site is just a template, and it doesn't contain or link to anything useful. I was excited about the book, but I couldn't even get the first MATLab example (gibbs.m) to work. What is scope()?

I don't understand how Microchip is selling PIC32s. Their errata documents seem to list half the features as non-working, and very little is fixed with each new silicon revision. I like MIPS and I want to like PIC32, but they seem like

Stainless fasteners are the worst. My company builds food equipment so they're a necessity, but... ugh. They gall terribly and they're squishy. If there happens to be a burr or crud in the threads, you might as well grab your angl

I had similar experiences. Buying a set of JIS screwdrivers was one of the best decisions I ever made. They even work on screws that have been mangled by improper tools. I haven't stripped a screw head since, though I've had to us

Those old cases were so sharp. One time I was fishing a screw out of a channel formed by some bends along the bottom of a computer case, and I felt the ragged sheet metal edge slide deep into the flesh of my fingertip. Ouch.

I have a Dell Precision M4700 at work that seems nice compared to recent Thinkpads. That's not to say I really like any of them... They're all piles of low quality plastic junk with zillions of pain-in-the-ass fasteners. I suppose
