Would you recommend that to someone who has never used AWS before? Is it possible to screw up and rack up a huge bill? I might consider using that for big tasks that I can't do with my local setup.

I used Rundiffusion for a while before I bought a 4090, and I thought their service was pretty nice. You pay for time on a system of whatever size you choose, with whatever tool/interface you select. I think it's worth tossing a f

In my experience, it takes some experimentation to figure out a good prompt. I don’t think I would have gotten very far off I had to wait that long for each result.

The one that really hurts my feelings is when the search function on a manufacturer’s website doesn’t recognize their own part numbers. Then I get angry and go to google, which gives me unrelated ad results instead. Ah, familiarity.

This is pretty cool. I particularly like the Math block. One issue I noticed while doing a calculation: "belt_pitch = 5/8 in" evaluates to "0.625 in^-1". To get the behavior I expected, I had to add parenthesis arou

Some devices do require a NRTL (nationally recognized testing laboratory) mark. That could mean UL or TUV or whatever. NFPA 70 will refer to “listed” or “recognized” devices in such cases.

Your language is fine (I’ve enjoyed your blog posts too, never gave it a thought that English wasn’t your first language), I just thought it was unnecessarily hurtful to say they must be a phony because they didn’t know something. But, ever

Do you have a different link that talks about that? The Wikipedia article says there were no health issues. “Despite the cost and the number of personnel involved in the cleanup, traces of contamination remained forty years later. Snails we

FYI the only kuky.com result for "kuky" on DDG is "web.kuky.com" which loads a "reward money" dialog that errors on submission and can't be closed.

Deals abound for 4xes. I was originally planning on doing a custom order for a 2-door 2.0T gas-only model, but after I test drove a 4xe at a dealer near DC, I decided to buy it instead. It's great fun to drive a silent Jeep, it has pow

Hah! I was frustrated with KiCAD's library system until I used other tools. I got over it when my employer bought a $20k/seat electrical CAD system with a trash library and I had to draw all my own symbols. Those KiCAD folks have

It's definitely not simple, but I think it's approachable, even for a beginner, but you've got to put in the work. Find parts that you think might work, then dig into their datasheets and read the related application notes. L

Yep. A good portion of my time helping folks with PCB design is in getting them comfortable with making their own symbols and footprints. Draw the parts. It's not that hard. Don't worry about libraries. Yes, somebody may have done

Autorouting is the most difficult when you are a beginner, because you don't know how to define the constraints and don't know what results are acceptable. I'd even argue that routing is the easy part of PCB design. Figuring

At moderate to high speeds you can’t even hear bikes until they’re beside or in front of you anyway. Loud pipes just fuel anti-motorcycle sentiment. As a motorcyclist it’s frustrating to see people vote for rules and regulations that limit

Cad programs barely work on the systems they’re designed for. I love solidworks, but it’s a real turd if you aren’t using one of the correct “certified” driver for your graphics card.
