Maybe just having a confidence weight assigned to each sentence the LLM generates, reflected in tooltips or text coloring, would be a big improvement.

Of course the LLM is bullshitting the user. That's precisely its purpose: LLMs are tools that generate comprehensible sounding language based on probability models that describe what words/tokens tend to be found in proximity t

There are open-source libraries like AdPlug ( https://adplug.github.io/ ) that offer really good OPL3 emulation. If you have the MIDI assets from the original game, it might be possible to get the original AdLib soundtrack w

Most Linux distros do that. The AUR, for example, has packages for MS fonts, Apple fonts, and many others, all of which extract the fonts from public redistributable packages.

I suspect that the term "cartridge" being used for 8-track shells may be the source of "cartridge" describing the packages that ROM-based games came in, especially given the resemblance between 8-track cases and those of

The entire article is so thoroughly Japan-centric that if this isn't being said explicitly, it doesn't need to be. None of these products were ever on the US market.

Another American here -- never heard "next best" meaning anything other than second-best to what you're currently looking at. "Next big thing" is commonly used and unambiguously means what's intended here.

None of this has anything to do with technology itself, though. All tools used by humans will be put to the purposes that those humans bear. The positive power we were attributing to the technology itself back in the '90s was really j

In this regard, I see a lot of projects aiming to "optimize user experience" that are actually optimizing for imaginary users at the expense of real ones. GNOME is a great example of this -- they're constantly removing functi

Use a password manager, and put the master password in your will. Better yet, use keyfiles as a secondary option (I believe this is supported by all implementations of KeePass), and store a secure copy of the key file along with your will.

No, asciinema uses a custom data format to store the terminal data, then uses custom JS to play it back within a web site. I'm talking about just distributing ANSI files.
