Half of software you mentioned is just garbage inside. And it will never be rewritten simply because it happens to work good enough to discourage any serious investment in rewriting it.

Go to defense sector. They are darn honest about what they are doing. They are doing no nonsense, guaranteed to be some interesting stuff. And killing people is the best thing you can do for environment. Space can also be an option.

I do not understand why solar fields do not take the ample roof areas. That is usually just wasted, even worse the roofs are mostly of some dark color where I live, they heat up the area for no good reason at all.
