And that's why culture-fit matters. There are places that are 'uptight' professional and others that are much more relaxed (most fall somewhere between the two.) No judgement of either environment types.

The problem with not using established frameworks for building apps is that you'll wind up creating your own ad-hoc 'framework'. As your app (and the framework) evolves it becomes more feature-rich, it will be difficult for

Everyone makes mistakes, even framework/compiler teams. I mean look at how long it took Go to get generics. Huge mistake IMO. I still dislike what ASP.NET did with their startup, and I don't think it's improved much. The mi

Depends on the place, circumstance, people, i.e. context. I (and my teammates) regularly drop F-bombs when troubleshooting/debugging issues with coworkers I've worked with for 5+ years. Nobody bats an eye. Do we do it in all-ha

Not medieval times, but when my grandfather was a kid (nearly 100 years ago now), the pigs would roam his Sicilian town and its outskirts. He was about 6 when he decided to piss off a sow in a field. It mauled him and near killed him.

Managing complexity should be job 1 for technical leadership. We've failed utterly when it comes to DevOps. The model should be Heroku-like deploys for 99% of apps/companies. Instead we have an army of DevOps experts for k8s, h

For the life of me I don’t understand why folks default to laptops for development. Yes portability is great, but most of us park our behinds at the same desk everyday. If I’m going to be out of the office (away from home) I take a laptop a
