I’m asking more to work out what is the basis of this valuation. Why would Nvidia spend $13B for what seems to be a services that gives things away for free.

File hosting isn’t that hard to replicate though. Even if they start charging people will just set up torrents for the files or lists of mirrors. Unless I’m missing something, this feels like Nvidia having more money than they know what to

JPEG isn’t good enough which is why we ended up with HEIF, which is a massive pain because it’s patent encumbered so it will never be widespread adopted. The most glaring issue with jpeg is the lack of HDR support.

I don’t think there is a technical solution to this problem but I think there is a legal one. Make it a legal requirement to mark AI generated photos and enforce penalties for posting unmarked AI generations. Social media should also mark t

Good enough will hit when the tech stops advancing quickly. You could have a "good enough" model but in 2 years if the general purpose chip can run it just as fast, there is no point having the single purpose one.

He has spent the last few months repeatedly posting the same comment about hitler being a socialist. If it was just the salute in isolation it could be questionable, but now there is no doubt.

The US is fighting wars with everyone on everything at the same time. They don't have the resources to do anything about it. Every country will develop their own independent payment networks. China was right to block US tech companies

If it's not theft to do that, then it isn't theft to distill the models. Anthropic wants it both ways.

I don't think polishing macos more will win more users, Windows is a flaming garbage heap where virtually every built in program is broken and people keep using it. Making macbooks cheaper and more accessible will do far more.

They are both somewhat important. The compute speed impacts the tokens per second, and memory impacts the size of the model/capability. IMO memory size is the most important since you can always wait longer for it to compute while a bl

The people using Mac mini/mac studios are very likely media editors who have a NAS on the local network. 1gbit ethernet is slower than wifi at this point and incredibly outdated. 2.5gbit ethernet is quite cheap and common now.
