Intel macs suddenly will lose the ability to run programs because Apple has dropped the requirement to ship an intel build. And from experience, as soon as Apple stops requiring devs support old hardware, nothing works anymore.

It's hard to debug sleep in a VM or some self contained system. You need to physically interact with the laptop, reboot it after it gets stuck, etc.

So the truck can take stuff direct to landfill or composting. And so rotting food doesn’t destroy the recycling. Recycling then has to be sorted further.

As a tech demo sure. But the current tech for this is much better where you just have a camera pointing at the trash falling, and either flipper paddles or air jets to push the trash in to the correct buckets as it’s falling.

They do. Tons of them are stolen or destroyed regularly. The company just keeps buying new ones.

Trash ends up on the streets in non malicious ways all the time. Bins fall over in the wind, stuff flys out of the back of truck beds, etc.

Email will just be AI agents arguing with each other. Where the only way to get anything done will be to show up at the office and ask in person.

At the same time I have found LLMs far less competent at frontend because they don't seem to have any visual understanding of what a good website looks like.

There are so many things as a kid I did not agree with or understand but was forced to do anyway, and now as an adult am glad. Right down to being forced to wear a hat and sunscreen (in Australia). If I had ChatGPT as a kid I would have lea

From what I've heard, most returns just get binned. Its terribly sad how wasteful online shopping is.

It seems like companies are getting a lot less trusting with their return policies. It used to be you just email them a photo or video of the issue and they send you a replacement. Now companies won’t send one until they have received the d

Qwen is weirdly expensive. Deepseek v4 flash is dirt cheap. You'd need at least 128gb of ram to run this model and in my experience, a days work with it costs around 80 cents.

It does make me wonder how the hosted stuff is so cheap. For pretty much everything else, hosted/rented is more expensive but offers better convenience and flexibility. But for AI, even if you consider the total lifetime cost and are u

I once bought a Pro Display but returned it. Kept the cloth, it’s still the nicest microfiber cloth I own. I wish I kept the thunderbolt cable too since they never checked for it in the return.

This still feels like made up work. We are using AI to inflate a prompt in to a full email to send, and then the receiver is using AI to summarize it back down.

I think the best move right now is to just wait a couple of years. There is room for the prices to drop dramatically. Buying the highest spec mac at the peak prices probably isn't a financially sensible move.

These are valid points, but I think the utility of being able to get location on your phone without power sucking GPS running all day is greater than the privacy risk of seeing when a wifi AP moved address. Which if you were so inclined, co

At least once a week I have to drop what I'm doing and race in to stop the non dev manager from merging a fully vibe coded patch which will blow up production. Claude Code has made this guy a negative 10x developer.

That's always existed with Hidden SSID. If you are particularly paranoid you can set it up like that. But unless you insert personally identifiable info in your wifi name there is not really any privacy risk for this data being mapped.
