If your website itself is advertising a product or service you sell you would still want LLMs to see and fetch it. If you are a news site, blog, or any other website that doesn’t exist to sell something, you are only harmed by ai agents.

This is what reader mode is. It exists purely because most websites are unreadable.

Almost all of these are historic relics of no relevance today. FLIF for example was a research project that was later the basis of JPEG-XL. Pretty much only the ones I listed previously are serious contenders in the space right now.

There aren’t _that_ many. HEIF has been an unusually large pain in the ass just because it’s both patent encumbered and incredibly popular since the iPhone and many cameras use it. JPEG is woefully outdated with the lack of HDR and modern c

Hardware encode is required if you want things like video calls, camera recording and such to use it. It isn’t required for content distribution platforms which aren’t realtime and the cost of encode is easily made up by hundreds of thousan

Most of them can't. It's just a few products like speed testers and social media that are at least surface level easy. You can't vibe code up a triple A quality game in a weekend.

I think we just need sensible levels of surveillance with proper safe guards. I'm quite happy with a network of CCTV that can track down the driver who just bulldosed and killed a kid on the their bike. I'm not ok with Amazon buil

It's also surprising how little money is being made. If I was buying a new car and there was an option where I could pay 61 cents for the privacy respecting version, it would be a no brainer.

The end state is something like China, where petty street level crime is essentially solved. You can leave your bike unlocked because if anyone stole it the police would find them and return it since they can track the thief on a network of

The pi, particularly the pi zero is still useful if you need something that can run normal software but not a full mini pc. One example I've seen is using a Pi zero as a "wireless usb" where you can plug it in to a machine th

Not really. These AI detectors are not quality detectors. I've seen real artists who do quality work have their old pieces they drew way before the invention of gen ai get flagged as AI. It's very detrimental to their business and

Tbh I wish all messaging apps worked like this. While it’s kind of cool to make charts like this, the privacy implications are pretty terrible for keeping conversations forever. A data breach on an IM app would be one of the most devastatin

My advice is to go somewhere in person and to keep going there consistently. It could be a club, a meetup, volunteering, etc. The internet is the fast food of socialising. While it might be quick and easy, the quality is terrible. You’ll ma

I think the FIRE movement is a response to how absurd this is, but it feels kind of wrong that you have to front load all of the saving for your whole life in the first 30 years. I'd love to work 3 days a week now and be paid a livable

The general public is not their customer base, they don't have nearly enough money to spend on AI. Going to the media and saying "this product can automate so many jobs" is marketing to other businesses who want to use it to

Presumably enforcing this would trigger an immediate legal response where Uber claims Apple is using their monopolistic control over the App Store.

I just flag every marketing email as spam. It's much more effective than unsubscribing since it tells your email provider to just redirect everything from them to spam, and it causes trouble for the sender.

Consumerism also doesn't really make people happy in the same way alcohol isn't a cure for depression. It's a short term rush that leaves you in a deeper more empty pit after.

Every TCG buyer I've spoken to is always "up" on cards, though if you dig further you'll find they haven't cashed in any actual gain and are just mentally up based on what they think they could sell them for. While

What gets me is that no one actually plays the game or cares about the cards. They buy them purely to resell them to someone else later for more. It's just like crypto in physical form.

Limiting token quotas would be fine. Encourage developers to use efficient models, plan the work first, and to not burn thousands of GPU hours on waste. It's much like when developers would waste tons of money on AWS spinning up massiv
