From what I have seen at work, everyone is using chat bots but no one is visiting websites through them. We still get almost all traffic through social media and google search.

Because it’s hard to investigate that with old cctv tech. Unless the person on the video was easily identifiable, it’s hard to do anything to follow up. With the new networked AI tech you could search for the person across the whole network

For refocusing, you can achieve this with focus bracketing, the camera takes the same photo at different focus points in quick succession. The reason phone default camera apps don't have this as a feature is because their depth of fiel

There is a much better way of doing this which some professional cameras do called pixel shift. It shifts the sensor a tiny amount in between multiple exposures to compose in to an absurdly high resolution image. The downside is it only wor

The source of this problem is that it costs $99/year + the churn of having to keep up with the latest ios api updates to have an app for iphones. Which kills the normal free software that would have filled this role. As well as the fac

Phones can't fit a zoom lens with moving elements. The other cameras are just other prime lenses so you aren't restricted to having a single focal length all the time. When you hit the little 0.5x, 1x, 4x buttons in the camera app

From what I can tell, it's taking multiple photos and stacking them in post. So giving the phone more time to capture sharp exposures to stack would do a lot to help.

There have actually been a number of band aids which have been fixing it. A few years ago I used to receive multiple malicious text messages and phone calls a day, then the Aus government cracked down on verification requirements for sender

Advertising is such a zero sum game as well. The only reason companies have to cold call market is because their competitors are cold calling. So you have to participate to keep up. If no one can do it, no one is getting a leg up over the r

I wonder how much we even need international calls from unknown numbers. In my life I have literally never legitimately had a call from an unknown number outside of the country. I guess it could be different if you have many connections or

It feels like volunteering at an Amazon warehouse when you previously volunteered at a charity store. Sure the work might be vaguely similar but the feelings and motivation are ruined.

The Google conspiracy has been getting shared for long before AI slop came in to the picture. The fact is that SEO people got too good at their jobs and filled the search results with junk.

$20 a month is not nearly enough. The current finances require AI companies to make far more money than that to not implode.

This is the root problem. The idea that Google is deliberately sabotaging search seems far less likely than the idea that the internet is mostly garbage and SEO slop.

Kagi can’t solve the fact that the internet itself has gone to shit. The independent forums are largely gone, the mainstream social media’s have all locked down and been spammed with AI slop.

If you want it banned for everyone, ID verification doesn’t even matter since presumably you wouldn’t be on the platform anyway.

I mean yes, we should just ban it all, but I'll take banning it for kids as a first step rather than an all or nothing where we will get nothing.

We know what good UX is already from history. Movies for example have an age rating system that clearly lists the ages the movie is suitable for. If you look underage, you get asked to provide ID. Parents do not have the time or energy to c

Why would we even consider jailing parents before banning social media from kids and jailing Mark Zuckerberg for pushing it on them? The power imbalance between individual parents and big tech is immense. How can we be mad at random parents

The models people are spending thousands on require more on the range of 600-800gb memory. 128gb hardly runs deepseek v4 flash which is almost free via api pricing.
