A suggestion for California would be to update it's SLAPP law to include fraudulent DCMA take down actions. Best would be make both the carrier and the entity filing the DCMA complaint equally liable.

I read a critic comparing web tech to old school tech like GE, General Motors, etc. Old 1950's GM was connected to everything. Where ties to the rest of economy is nil for FAANG companies. Webshit can total crater and have zero effect

Somewhere I saw someones study that said it's better to build solar and batteries than solar and transmission lines. I think wind is maybe more of an issue since wind and people don't line up geographically as much as solar and pe

The standards people won't even add a standard buffer or slice to the language. I kinda cry every time I see a new api with foo(void *src, int sz) signatures.

Going from 4MB to 16MB made Autocad and Orcad Capture under Win 3.1 no longer slow. I remember a few years before that you'd zoom in on a drawing and do as much as you could without zooming back out because it would take a full minute

I feel that if C had tagged unions and a little sugar you could write non magical generic functions in C. Non magical meaning unlike C++ etc instead of the compiler selecting the correct function based on the arguments the function itself c

I've been rolling the idea around that perhaps if a product is encumbered by a subscription then it's not a first sale and the product counts as inventory. And gets taxed as such.

We could fire WG14 and add Walter Brights fix for passing arrays, buffer and slice types. Add phat pointers and types as fist class objects. If you did that and implemented marking passing size info over function calls then you could probab

That's what I remember my sys admin friends saying. The Sun machines could handle heavy loads without falling over. But if you were running a heavy single user application or compiling a big project a commodity wintel box was faster.

Questions? You got any idea why people hate the concept of nested functions in C? Why named named arguments test( a:4, b:3) instead of test(.a=4, b.=3); Have any idea how you would handle first class types in C.
