My dad worked on the Unitary Plan wind tunnel. I've been inside it and in the control room one time when it was running. Indeed is loud. I think it pulls up to 100 megawatts when running.

I for a long time thought we need labeling laws that require the name of the holding corporation be 100% larger than the sub brand. If Arrowhead is in 3/4 inch high text Nestle has to be 1.5 inches high and located above it.

When someone buys a car that uses gasoline or diesel they just commuted to dumping 50 to 100 tons of CO2 into the air. Putting an excise tax on those cars tilts the decision to buy gas vs electric strongly away from gas. Which is what you w

Why should we punish someone that bought a car before EV's were commonly available? That's punishing people after the fact. Which is morally wrong. The fundamental idea is the state doesn't actually want the money. It wants m

California should just place an excise carbon tax on gas and diesel cars. How about $100/ton of CO2. At 30 mpg that's 60 tons of CO2 so $6k.

A while ago saw someone who was working in the tracking space said the following. For stolen items you don't want to track them. You want to be able to ask them where they are. The advantage is you can make a locator that doesn't

Yeah you get it. What triggered it for me is there is a PoE standard for automotive that can deliver 50W over a single twisted pair. If you bumped that to 125 to 150W then it would yes be great for residential for all the reasons you can th

If you use google maps to find the distance between Los Banos and Tehachapi. Via I5 is 210 miles. Via HWY99 is 223 miles. So a 13 mile difference. That's 5-7 minutes at high speed rail speeds. And you are right the extra cost is minima

Power transistors can be had that can switch up to maybe 3000V at the most. But maybe 1200-1500V is more common. You can stack power transistors to switch higher voltages on the primary side. On the secondary side you just need an H-bridge.
