This is incorrect. No currently available module has passed FCC modular certification. The ESP8266EX chips themselves have passed certification, but that's only one part of the process. The 'certification' reached by the ESP-

The ESP8266 has an Xtensa processor (IP from Cadence, originally Tensilica). As far as I'm aware, all Espressif wifi ICs use this core.

I don't believe there are any ESP8266 modules with FCC modular certification yet. I prototyped a CC3200 module but stopped working on it when it became apparent that the ESP8266 was here to stay. It's a simpler chip with fewer ava

While I'm appalled by some of the recent changes Spotify has made, I'm really impressed by how easy it is to work on their desktop client. I can't even imagine how nice things must be when you have the real source, automatic

This is more efficient, cheaper, and has lower latency than your solution. It's also way cooler.

They didn't do the drive yet, this is just a piece of fluff to fill the time between their initial announcement and the drive (which will start next week).

Lots of opportunities throughout the rest of the stack too - from novel architectures to on-chip programmable logic, the end of Moore's law puts more pressure on some really interesting innovation. eg Rainbow[0], BORPH[1], Mill archite

Is it straightforward to reference a separate compiled library from an Emscripten binary? Seems that caching commonly shared dependencies could be a good way to cut down on size and parse/compile time.

Wiki is pretty empty. Is this built on open standards? Can it control hardware that uses MQTT and CoAP? How does it compare with OpenHAB?

No BGAs, I think you might be seeing the crazy thermal via arrays under the chips (I went a little overboard, the next revision will likely have a couple less vias on each chip). The hashing ICs are QFN. This would be a really easy board to

I agree. The via in pads was done more as an experiment to see what would happen - I'd never tried it before. They lower the inductance on the ground path, but it's not a huge deal. They'll be relocated in a future iteration.
