Data Extractors usually need support from the extension. But you can configure how to construct the expression that is sent to the debugger to be evaluated. By default, it is `x => x`, but you could do `x => extract_json(x)`.

Ruby might work out of the box if it can produce JSON strings that are not obfuscated by the debug adapter in vscode!

But they have a valid point that many things could be more useful if they were thought more general. I feel like software development could be significantly more efficient if all developers would work together and not against each other,

Well, maybe it actually is easier than I thought to bundle everything into a single html file (I thought you couldn't embed fonts into html, but apparently you can [1]). Anyways, in case of this application, all visualizations together

It should work out of the box, but nobody confirmed yet that it works with ruby ;)

It's not coming close, but a step towards light table: https://github.com/hediet/vscode-realtime-debugging Also, there is https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=WallabyJ... . I myself

I refactored all the visualization out into a standalone framework. I share your view ;) Except that it should not be a single file. That is technically neither feasible nor required. https://hediet.github.io/visualization&

Advent of Code really might be a great use-case for this extension! Anyways, I think the table, the plain text and the planned text-diff visualizer might be handy for day-to-day debugging, as they fix some issues with the watch window in VS

All visualizations (i.e. json ~> ui transformers) are available as standalone library too. A playground can be found at [1]. The entire project is open source and can be easily extended! [1] https://hediet.github.io/visua

You might find the Debug Visualizer extension for VS Code helpful to visualize algorithms and datastructures [1]. It kind of works with python, but works best with Javascript/TypeScript. [1] https://github.com/hediet&#x

usually, a freeze is considered a crash too. In this sense, you cannot be turing complete and crash safe.

You should check out neo2! It might be specific for the German language but it's six layers make it super efficient for programming.

If you want to prove "\forall x: A(x)", you start with "let x be a free variable. It remains to show A(x)".

The first step you do when proving something all-quantified is making the quantified variables free.

Wait, C#s type system is turing complete?? Does somebody have an example type that the compiler cannot check?

I don't understand the problem. x and y are free, so you can choose x=y. Then obviously, f(x)=f(y). Then it should follow x=x xor c, thus c=0. Or did they forget to claim that x and y are different?

You might like the Debug Visualizer for VS Code! It's a general purpose visualizer. However it's not as easy to use as this project. https://github.com/hediet/vscode-debug-visualizer/blob/maste...

This might be harmful to github pages where it would hide the repository name. If they include this without offering an option to turn it off, I will quit using Chrome.

I would feel pretty bad accepting donations for this integration - compared to my other extensions, this one wasn't much work at all, thanks to the awesome embed mode of Draw.io!

Please note that the author of the extension (me) is not the author of draw.io, I just used their embed API ;) I think you can support draw.io by spreading it or blogging about how to use their embed mode. You can also implement custom plug
