This headline does not reflect the article and is needlessly inflammatory. This article is an explanation of Bayes theorem and overall very positive of it. The "used wrongly" quote is just stating that it's not immune to bias

We've got hellbanning. It helps but they figure it out pretty quickly, especially in chat. I run a kids site, so we have to be pretty draconian about keeping out bad actors.

Are there any good services or packages for doing this, especially for RoR? I don't need it for advertising, but for banning abusive users who are able to evade the usual means of detection.

It's also possible that an insider knew the news was about to break and waited for the announcement with the trade queued up.

I would think "We are Groot" would be better as the command to accept one byte of input.

It's possible that Amazon's analytics demonstrate that you're more likely to purchase if shown a wider variety of products, even if you attempted to narrow it down. Not that their short term bottom line is a worthy excuse for

There's no way to create that book without doing the calculations from each tick to the next. So when you put it into the computer, it's just repeating the calculations done the first time in the creation of the book. I do think y

Publicity teams would absolutely pay for a "Google Alerts but Way Better" product. You'd need to make it much better and easier to use, and have features similar to the peak tracking so that they can get a sense of how popula

With such a thin atmosphere, why would a light shining upwards be visible from the side? For a light to be visible laterally like this, you'd need atmosphere for a scattering effect and a very bright light. A light pointing upwards f

Encrypt what you put behind the Dead Man's Switch, and then give the recipient/heir the key. If you want to get fancy, break the key up into two or more parts and split them among your heirs.

This is HUGE news if it performs as well as advertised. We have been creating games in Unity for a couple years and eyeing HTML5 as a possibility that just was never capable enough to trust with a major project. Unity as a development platf

Criticisms like "perfect for criminals" and "no consumer protection" do make sense. Cash is great for money laundering and has no reversibility. The whole point is that these weaknesses are 100% real--and yet not necessa

Recruiters certainly have a conflict of interest. It would be pretty straightforward to add a couple questions to any general survey of employees in an industry to figure it out.

I've seen this claim over and over, but never any sort of citation or numbers. Lots of people get competitive offers, get a counteroffer, and then stay for years. I know a number of them personally. The reason it seems like they never

Pretty funny, but one second is far too short. This triggers even on a normal resizing. It should only trigger if someone is messing around for a few seconds. It's not much of an easter egg if anyone resizing their window gets it!

Game #5 could easily make a nice iOS game. Make it free and IAP for additional puzzles. You'd just need to generate a whole mess more puzzles. Two little bits of feedback: 1. When one of the pieces goes off the screen, you should autom

Since computers play chess (better than humans) by looking at moves and ranking them as advantageous or disadvantageous, I would think it would be relatively straightforward to use a computer to decide whether a move is a mistake or not.

Simplest explanation: The owners had them installed to test different contractors, designs, and/or materials. Wouldn't you have someone put a few in before you signed a contract to put them all up?

I'd say name a number or range 15-25% above the offer. Or even just "I was hoping for 15-20% more." Thanks, I'll add this. The point is just to ask for what you want. Often people will give it to you just for asking. It took me a long time
