Public housing is terrible - why should the government steal my money (income tax) to pay to house criminals and drug dealers nearby which devalues my property and endangers my life and family? We just need a true Free Market - let people b

That isn't helpful though, we need to understand some ideas of economics to make good decisions for innovation and maximising human potential. Read "Why Nations Fail" for example - all nations are struggling with different pa

Econometrics without interventions is useless due to stuff like this. At least with instrumental variables for example you could tax the oil and see the real impact of less oil burned. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inst

Yeah, same for a scripting language too - something like Lua but as expressive as Rust. There is Rune, but like you mentioned the issue is adoption, etc.

Teams bundling would be the main one. Then Xbox for not allowing alternative marketplaces like Steam. OneDrive and Office365 cross-promotion is also a bit dodgy, especially tied in to the near-mandatory Microsoft account. Apple might get su

They should be able to opt-out though. E.g. sell games but use no Xbox services on Xbox. I wonder if the DMA will bring Steam to consoles.

Yeah, Microsoft is just as bad. Slack and Zoom should have good cases over the Teams bundling tbh. The "Open"AI investment and sudden shift from a non-profit is crazy too.

But they aren't permitted to do anything differently. If Apple allowed alternative App Stores and sideloading, this wouldn't even be a discussion.

I think the DMA (and this case) is the most important one. Right now Apple directly controls how most people interact with all their software and the Internet. Although I wish the EU would take the money from these fines and put it straight

But the relevant part here is the App Store. Giving users more freedom to get their apps without requiring Apple's authorisation is a good thing. It helps startups and stops Apple from abusing the App Store monopoly to funnel users to

Go also does the latter to be fair. If it weren't for Rust, I'd use Go. But Rust's development tools are incredible with rust-analyzer, clippy, etc.

Probably VCS based on ASTs instead of text changes directly. Or it'll all just be done by LLMs then.

Yeah, I wish there were a similar high-budget series about the actual real missions from both the USA and USSR. So many exciting close-calls in Apollo, the race after Sputnik, the unfortunate Soyuz deaths and Space Shuttle disasters, the at

Apple has been really hit and miss. Slow Horses and Masters Of The Air are great, but For All Mankind focussed too much on the relationship drama rather than exciting missions.
