The cause is not being functional, but having dozens of extra features and multiple syntaxes for the same thing, both Scala and Haskell suffer from that. On the other hand OCaml is very fast and Elm is the fastest compiler I've ever se

Elm seems stagnant because Evan is not so transparent and prefer work in a private branch and to release work in batches instead of having a release every 6 months, this makes people think it is dead. Elm is still being used in production b

Kernel code and custom operators are only allowed under elm/ and elm-explorations/, so only 7 core packages can use them. The core developers cannot use those features in projects like everyone else.

I could use Elm as it is today for at least a decade without updates, since it's very stable. Anyway, I am sure there are very competent people from the core devs or from the community that could make a new leadership if that happened.

That's not true, lamdera is a fork and has it's own channel inside elm slack. Terezka (that is from core team) already said that if part of the community wants to fork Elm, that would be ok. https://discourse.elm-lang.o

I prefer to have readable code first, and performance improvement later and only if needed.

Once in a cowork space we had the golden rule to never call someone that is on headphone, unless it is urgent. I miss that.

I agree with you, but that doesn't apply when someone interrupts in the middle of a thought.

Autofill many times fill data in wrong fields, and it break UI style too.

Is it possible that the popularity increase albeit being correlated to the syntax changes, was not caused by it?

Since I started using facebook (2010) until today, it happens to unfocus and is very weird. If I go to login page, start typing my email very fast, it lose focus after 1s even before I finish typing.

Using elm-ui instead of html/css has many advantages: 1) Tree shaking will remove every component/style that is not being used, so asset size will be smaller 2) It is type safe and avoid many mistakes possible in html/css 3)

People don't believe how typesafe Elm is until they start to use it, I never had a runtime exception. I worked a few years with TS+Vue/React, and now with Elm, and I will never go back. It is sad that a single FUD is shared much m

Because that is a myth. If that existed, you could build an entire startup with a single developer.

I've used Crystal before, I liked a lot except the compilation time. I am excited to try it again, download Crystal + Lucky framework, but seems shards are not updated to 1.0 yet. I'll wait a few weeks before trying again.

I disliked the syntax, but was very curious why lots of devs were fascinated by it. Started to study Lisp/Clojure in 2015 and used more and more, and nowadays I love it.

That's just a number, each project has their own criteria. Elm is very stable, production ready for more than 4 years and still 0.19

Everyone in our company hates redmine. We were doing great before when we used trello, but managers want to track and feel they have control of the projects.

I was expecting a kind of rant that one fills the reason why you want to create a new X. Then after fill the reasons why it wouldn't work. I have seen with calendars and other things here in hacker news. Someone remember the links?

Each year I think wether should I learn OCaml or not. What is the current state of multi-thread OCaml? Is that a game changer or just a cool feature? I can't understand why OCaml doesn't have mass adoption.
