Gemini appeals to the 'console-only' aesthetic, I won't bet on it replacing the everyday web, but it can be used to construct an alternative 'Internet for the terminal'-type experience: lightweight news, libraries,

Perhaps its because its simpler to invest in proven technology? the pre-1978 hardware(pre-PC era) was niche computing without wide consumer base. Once there is a large consumer base it dictates the market.

The fastest way to make it fast and performant is moving these 'Webgl' animations to a separate page like 'Github Globe'. Leave only text, no fancy effect, nothing irrelevant to 99% of users.

Centralized services are not going to provide 100% reliable end-to-end encryption, they're vulnerable 'single-point-of-failure' that can be pressured/hacked/etc to disclose their users data.

Beliefs based on truth don't need social reinforcement and don't need to be 'believed by others' due being self-evident. The rest(social beliefs) are based on shaky, vague evidence, pressuring one 'to believe'

I work by effort/benefit ratio. Many programmers start ambitious projects with very high effort and low benefit, like e.g. a browser/os/videogame/library which they maintain at expense of their health and limited time.
