I'm an ex editorial illustrator and midjourney can do the whole job often enough. With about 20% of ideas I try out I've been able to get submission ready work. Maybe another 30% can be cleaned up without too much hassle in Photos

If was driving only on quiet residential streets at speeds below 30 km/hr I wouldn't be very ambitious about using a seatbelt either.

I only wear a helmet on trails and long road rides. On trails, the false feeling of confidence I get from knowing I have a helmet gives results in faster times on my various trail circuits. Once I forgot my helmet and decided to ride anyhow

My city has the scrambles and the insanely long light cycles, they were installed about 4 years ago. It has really helped to scare drivers out of city centre. Cyclists and pedestrians have also learned to avoid downtown because waiting 4 mi

It's been a good year for machine learning overall, and that includes autonomous vehicles. There's more optimism this year, the survivors are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

I recall spending $86 on a pair of Gap jeans in 1992. It was a lot of money back then, I was 15 and had no job. Checking out the Gap site, a pair of new Jeans today cost $99 CDN.

It's Midjourney. It has me wandering the uncanny valley for hours every day, there is so much undiscovered country. My sleep is disrupted. I'm in an altered state and I'm more tuned to recognizing coincidences and generally m

This opens up ideas. One thing people have tried to do with stable diffusion is create animations. Of course, they all come out pretty janky and gross, you can't get the animation smooth. But what if what if a model was trained not on

I'd been saying for years before anyone had L3 out that the working definition of L3 is simply that the manufacturer will assume liability while the vehicle is in charge.

The problem isn't that AI art is garbage, it's that the whole history of art got retconned. To someone who doesn't know any better it may as well all be just as valueless as AI generated art. There's no difference anymo

I was an editorial illustrator, only for a couple years, a little over a decade ago now. Thank god I no longer have skin in the game. With Midjourney V4 I'm getting publication ready results about 30% of attempts, and the rest of the t

The problem is that if I don't recognize something from the pre-ai art era, then my knee-jerk assumption is that it's probably ai generated. So now all art is as worthless as the AI generated stuff.

In the early to mid-2010s AI hype peaked, radical Kurzweillean ideas became sales pitches from founders, and a great wave of discussion and speculation passed through the media public consciousness. For a time r/futurology was an inter

The general air of sociability at my gym has gone up and down over the years. The culture seems to be driven by a handful of A-type personalities, and when less of them are showing up the place feels a fair bit less extroverted.
