It won't really spur the curious discussion this forum is known and loved for.

I think that's why I enjoy using HN most of all. People generally dive into the article and don't make judgmental or charged comments, not mention then curious discussion to be found every day.

It's interesting you mention that because I'm being quite charitable to my colleague, who was actually dismissively stubborn, and who ignored my personal experiences about living in a non-wood house. The context is that I was shop

I once asked a colleague why this was the case, and the responses I got were basically "Wood is cheap, durable and we have lots of it. Other materials will price houses out of most Americans and there's no tangible benefit to usin

I don't trust Americans to understand how ranked choice voting actually works, given the education level of most voters here. Not to mention there's probably some way they'll bastardize it and transform it into something even

Does China use a lot of windmills? The US president has a big concern with windmills, perhaps rightly so, which perhaps explains the rise in emissions.

That's a strawman argument and doesn't really engage curious discussion. GP never said that agents need to be murdered in cold blood, nor did they say that they didn't care about the agents' safety.

Someone can be more specific and accurate with this, but in the US, population percentages don't vote. Or in other words, some votes are worth more than others. So relying entirely on % of population isn't a great measure.
