First past the post is awesome. I moved from a proportional-representation country to a FPTP one (Canada) and it's so much better to have a specific individual who is my MP. Back where I was born, there's a grey and anonymous part

It’s completely fair to say that private prisons have too much pull and that there are bad incentives like you point out. It’s completely unfair to express surprise that Americans would come up with a way to reduce their prison population b

There are private prisons in the US that benefit from more prisoners. But there are many more people and organizations there that benefit from fewer prisoners. For most purposes, a country is not a singular thing.

If true, it would explain the massive post-covid revenue bumps at Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean. These guys are making double their pre-covid revenue, and 2019 was a really great year. They're heading to almost 3x their rev

I think you're letting your weird anti-Americanism colour (color?) your thoughts. For instance: - I'm not American - Americans don't need Whatsapp because almost all of them have enough money to just buy iPhones - Africans in

Exactly - social media is the perfect way to replicate that “town square” vibe our cavemen ancestors must’ve had to communicate with distant social connections, short of having an actual town square.
