After looking over the link, I agree. In most of these cases, it's not really comparing the words, but their usage. For example, when you say something is "fast" you can only mean that its speed is high. If you say it's "stuck fast", fast i

I don't know how they pulled it off, but I like that they did. Things like this make the music industry more flexible over time, and is only better for us consumers. I agree though - I had the same thing happen to me when I logged in today

This is one of the points I always try to make with other tools... if you can do what you want with it, and it suits the needs of your project, you don't need to "move on" to something else. Sure, it's good to keep your mind open, investiga

I might be wrong about this, but I imagine that even early on, it was also much cheaper to make CD's than cassettes.

Codeacademy is a great site... it makes it fun to brush up on the basics or try out a new language. It helped me learn some Javascript recently, and I really enjoyed the course. I'd love to see them do something on OAuth / Twitter. I find t

Haha, well I'm no industrial designer, so who knows what it ought to look like... but if it looks like this image, you can be sure I won't ever have one sitting next to my TV. I'm not really interested at this point anyway, but an ugly hard

Maybe I'm just dense, but how did Zynga damage Facebook's reputation concerning games? Aren't they really considered (by the general public) one of the premiere game developers for Facebook?

If Valve makes their new platform the only way to play Half-Life 3... that might be the first game in the series that I'll have to skip. I hate to say that, because I don't doubt that it will be an awesome game, but it's just not enough to

Shadowmint touched on what I meant by that - other companies make creative software which doesn't directly compete with Adobe's lineup, but which costs 2x - 4x more. As someone who uses this software and occasionally tries the alternatives,

That's absolutely it. All it takes is one or two decent jobs and you've paid for your Creative Suite. It's a lot of money overall, but not as much as it appears when you're new to it all. It's a little regrettable that Adobe maintains so mu

Of course they didn't. Mostly because they just wanted to have the story "first", and secondly because most of them either don't have editors / fact-checkers or don't care about them. It's the price we pay for getting news as fast as we do.

Well, like I said, I agree with you, in that I think that the traditional form of work / retirement is out-dated and wrong, at least for me. Life is too short to waste it doing something you dislike, only to try to carve out some small enjo

How many were repeats (deleted from device, then re-downloaded later)? How many were updates to existing apps (or did they count those)? These numbers are meant to impress people who know nothing about numbers, in my opinion.

I'm not quite sure what you mean here. I agree that there are a few small issues with this re-design, but I don't see how Windows 8's "massive UX problems" manifest themselves here. Are you saying that just because the buttons / "tiles" in

I don't understand this logic entirely. If your site is unavailable due to normal, unavoidable probabilities in reasonable uptime, why does it matter if the CDN is hosting your scripts or not? Your site isn't going to be around to access th

This is exactly my thought on the matter. It's cool that larger sites will host these scripts for you, but why should I make my site dependent on another just for a negligible improvement in speed / caching efficiency? My feeling is that if
