Useful feature though, but just for limited audiences (not just Slack of course, Mattermost does this too). We have a grammar Nazi flag, a rubber duck, and an animated dancing banana.

I'm pretty much against avatars featuring people's actual faces too. Digital communication pretty much allows us to completely disregard another's appearance, so why reintroduce that via the backdoor? Emoji segregation feels

Oh yeah, that's totally not awkward. Imagine being the only one of a particular shade of human and constantly seeing your lonely thumbs up next to the the thumbs ups of the rest of the team.

I'm somewhat fine with the unix epoch timestamp, but this thing is not just seconds or microseconds since x, it is days since x, plus the rest of the time bits as a fraction. One second to midnight on January 1st 2008 is… 39448.9999884

If you ever write some HTTP endpoint where tabulated data is returned, you could quite reasonably return RFC 4180 style CSV. However, if your API ever interfaces with users in a corporate environment, parsing simple comma-separated UTF-8 CS

Whenever I open Google's Play Store on Android I get this feeling of walking into some dystopic shopping mall. I hardly ever come there (F-Droid covers all utilities for me, so Google's own app store is really only for official ap

This year there were multiple reports of people stealing bronze sculptures from graves here in the Netherlands. Thinks butterflies, birds, and other personal memorabilia. That's a fairly new development (and a new low). Small sculpture

Nah. Any sorting won't be done until they've finished their rounds. People who gather metal from street side dumps just cart it all to the nearest scrap metal dealer. Most is aluminium and steel anyway; both recycle just fine.

Already possible! Banks know who you are, so what if there was a safe way to let a site know that you are over 18 — and nothing more than that — through some common API? This was exactly what the German public transport service Mopla did wh
