So, Analog Mono and Geist both have enough pixels per glyph that they don't really read as pixel fonts below sizes of ~20px. Analog kinda aleviates that by being made up of big (overlapping) blocks of 2x2 pixels. Geist just kinda looks

Nearly half of the workforce of crop farmworkers in the US is made up of "illegal" immigrants. The US food-supply relying on those people has meant that, in practice, immigration law enforcement is deliberately selective and self-

Apart from being tonedeaf, this stuff just strikes me as very lazy. Who still needs to be told that AI is new and transformative? Getting the privilege of monologueing to a crowd of people on one of the biggest days of their lives, and then

Looks really polished. My one point would be that I would consider making the default model a realistic mannequin (or ecorche if you have it). I get you're saving that for pro, but I think that would make it more obviously appealing fo

I do mostly enjoy all this moving to European tech because the thing being replaced is usually owned by Microsoft. I do kind of worry though: there's a broad trend of countries trying to become less reliant on eachother, and in my mind

The point of this research doesn't seem to be to generate a nice sounding digital instrument, but to give violin makers a rough idea of what the instrument will sound like for different shapes / materials. This is useful for compa

Not perfect, but the “80% capacity after 1000 cycles” part at least creates some decent incentives imo.

I can understand pre-computation making the “software” problem of locomotion easier, but how does it help with the hardware problems laid out in the article, ie repeated very high load over a very short amount of time?

Silly question maybe, but didn’t Boston Dynamics have videos of bipedal robots doing acrobatics / running ~7/8 years ago? Kinda looked like they “solved” locomotion then

This doesn't make sense, if I want to see a lego-cat slopimage I can just prompt a model myself (and have it be of my own cat). There's no reason for you to be involved in any part of that process, because the point of this stuff

Irrelevant. My point is that the parent comment did imply that the ToS created obligations for Meta in the way that laws do, which means your first comment was incorrect.

The parent comment brings up the ToS as an example of why it's naive to believe Meta is obligated to do something, but what Meta is obligated to do depends on the law.

What's your point? The ostensible benefit of LLM's is that you combine a computers' broad knowledgebase and capacity for exactness with fluency in human language. A random human picked off the street is indeed bound to be dif

Dumb question, why do “sensitive” spots on the body need more nerves? Couldn’t you just have the normal touch-sensing nerves and map signals from specific spots on the body to stronger/pleasurable qualia in the brain?
