Remember that IntelliJ have plugins that makes it have the same features as Webstorm, Phpstorm, rubymine and Pycharm, except for one feature: "Open Directory". If you get IntelliJ you must create a project in order to edit the files in a di

Hmm, I don't use Linux myself so I can't really be 100% sure. But I found the info here. Maybe they don't mean "platform rendering engine" when they say "system fonts"? http://blog.jetbrains.com/webide/2012/10/phpstorm-webstorm-5...

I don't use Linux, but IntelliJ uses native font rendering in Linux according to their blog. Give it a try.

Would it be possible to change this in OS X without making the whole user-land incompatible?

This is actually quite fluid on iPhone 5. I asked a co-worker to try this on his Galaxy S3(quad-core, no lte) and it was really slow there. And in Chrome it was even slower than that on the S3. Doesn't any web browser on Android use a JIT?

If I, for my next iMac, had to choose between a 256GB SSD and 1TB spinning-disk, I'd pick the spinning-disk because I want the space more than the speed. With this Fusion system I get almost the best of both.

That's true and probably by design. ;) A workaround could perhaps be to use anti-virus software, at least Symantec has reputation based whitelisting.

I know it's not considered a good thing to do, but I also have problems with Maven, mostly because I so seldom use Java. But I found JarFinder in IntelliJ to be a good replacement for many needs. You just start using a class and it suggests

I guess I'm lucky enough to never have seen that class in code I've seen. :) That seems like typical Microsoft object-orientation. It's not really much of encapsulation. Reminds me of MFC :-/

No, this is great. It will make version numbers not matter anymore. Either you use the latest version or you can't really complain about security, stability or feature issues.

That looks awesome. I wonder if I dare install .Net 4.5 on my work laptop and see if the development cycles are faster as well. I just hate that one little change in a C# file involves a sloooow msbuild plus a sloooow app pool refresh :-( W

Wait a little while with this update if you use the Facebook app. Since I installed 6.0.1, the Facebook app crashes immediately after starting. EDIT: Hmm, after 10 crashes it started to work.

Yes, and that is exactly the problem. The iMac's size and resolution is awkward-DPI. I enabled HiDPI mode, but then I got 1280x720 on 27"... And without it much of the texts on web pages are too small. You make it sound like I'm blind or so
