This has reminded me of a weekend project I made that compares AWS/Azure/etc in a similar table ( https://providers.stacksetup.com/ ).

Did a double take at first reading the post as if from a 3rd party but on the ArcType blog - then saw the original link at the bottom! While the ArcType screenshot looks cool the main website is absolutely unusable - I counted 7+mb of JavaS

Did not know about the pricing change (no email or any attempted communication it seems). Will be moving to GH actions immediately, bye bye Travis.

I don't think it's impossible to have (relatively) lightweight hybrid apps. The article focuses entirely on electron, which ships a whole browser. There are other options, such as pywebview, that use the system native browser. Sti

I guess this means no updating to 5 or Big Sur then, I'll be keeping the kernel extension, thank you Apple.

I've toyed around with this idea before[1], and am v.excited to see Multi.app as a packaged up/refined version, awesome stuff. [1] - https://pointlessramblings.com/posts/why-always-electron/

Came here to say this, in particular: > This problem was never root caused, though we suspect an issue in the Celery workers themselves and not RabbitMQ. So the problem wasn't Rabbit itself, but the usage/lack of understanding.

There's pyinfra ( https://pyinfra.com , full disclosure: I built it). Ansible, Salt have been mentioned already. Also CFEngine and Rudder might be worth a look.

I've not used salt very much at all but I believe both tools provide similar functionality. pyinfra is only agentless vs. salt can do both which makes it more scalable at huge numbers of hosts. The major difference is the configuration

So pyinfra itself won't do this - but because inventory/etc is written in Python it's possible to easily achieve this by using boto3 directly in the inventory file. The use of Python for the inventory + deploy code makes it p

Very much this - pyinfra was heavily inspired by both Fabric & Ansible. Beyond POSIX, pyinfra now supports winrm (experimental) - https://pyinfra.readthedocs.io/en/v0.14.5/connectors.html#wi... .

I'm a big fan of this - to me containers is another hype train like cloud and serverless. There absolutely are good use-cases (we run a number of K8s clusters with great success at work) but it's absolutely not the solution to all

Although I think JQuery can easily be swapped for Vanilla JS, I totally agree with the React angle here. I've seen so much time wasted setting up tonnes of React boilerplate for a tiny single function website. It's absolute madnes
