I love this. Upworthy posts are so obnoxious. My favorite title so far is "Try Not To Groan When You Hear This Battlecry." edit: They should also have added pop-ups like "I think water is wet" [agree] [disagree]

For the data I was compressing (JSON) it was getting it to about 17% of the original size. Obviously that will vary depending on your data.

I've been using LZString for data I put in LocalStorage. Obviously you can still hit the limit, but it takes quite a bit longer. http://pieroxy.net/blog/pages/lz-string/index.html

What agreement did Schmeiser have with Monsanto? He never interacted with Monsanto to get the seeds, right? He intentionally collected and replanted them, but that didn't involve any interaction with Monsanto, either. I guess he purcha

Thanks for the note about the picture. I knew it didn't look like any remotely recent screen in Epic. I worked for Epic for a couple years circa 2008, and even then it would have looked outdated. Also, at least in Epic, I know there&#x

I remember reading in at least one study that there's no added benefit of doses above 1mg. I checked the "Brzezinski et al" article and it says: The dose response relationships in 11 of the studies (see Refs. 17,18) su

Yeah, a list comprehension is the easiest way to write it in any of the languages. I think it's a little clearer/shorter to do print sum(x for x in range(1, 1000) if x % 3 == 0 or x % 5 == 0)

In Haskell it could be sum $ filter (\x -> mod x 3 == 0 || mod x 5 == 0) [1..1000] but I don't think that detracts from the article. He said up front his solution was over-engineered. That's nice in this case, because it lets u
