There are many knobs and levers. The extent to which it harnesses "capitalism and entrepreneurship" for wealth creation is not the only thing defining an economic system, and arguably the poor are not best served by maximising cap

Mostly I'd agree. It could also fall under #5, as a trade-off between developer time and user time. And sometimes #1, if speed is an essential requirement.

> Your work will never set boundaries for you as they benefit from you working harder and longer. Some workplaces do set boundaries, and it is not universally true that "harder and longer" working brings benefits.

It seems extremely unlikely to me that Spotify users stream 4 hours per day on average. I suspect it's less than one hour.

A tutorial on first use is probably not enough to have most users remember the gestures or even just which options there are. Maybe spaced repetition would be a better approach.

This kind of works but users don't always express their intent in their edit actions, either because no available edit action can fully capture the intent or because it was simpler to achieve the desired state in a different way. Chang

> and when you mask database design with a UI, you get the worst of both worlds Visual tools don't inherently mask complexity. They can do, and many do, which is useful for some use cases. And they can also make things visible that

"Plain text" writing using a "text editor", is much more limited in its expressiveness than writing on a piece of paper. There is no reason to believe that a character grid somehow is the pinnacle of programming.

A GTX1080 manages about ~9 TFLOPS(fp32) (and has terrible fp16 support), where V100 gets ~15 TFLOPS(fp16), ~30 TFLOPS(fp16), and ~120 TFLOPS(tensor cores). Apart from one being a gaming product and the other being designed for computational

> The V100 only gets 14 TFLOPS because it lacks the dedicated TensorRT accelerator hardware. V100 has both vec2 hfma (i.e. fp16 multiply-add is twice the rate of fp32), getting ~30 TFLOPS, and tensor cores which can achieve up to 4x that

You are quite right about stardust and good habits. It seems to me, though, that many people use "god" (and especially "God") to refer to something quite different from "some higher axiomatic meaning". If that&

With Vulkan you can choose to have a small matrix of feature levels and thus few optional code paths. Or you can have many. That choice is up to you. Whereas if the API defines feature levels, it isn't.

Considering how birth rates have dropped across the globe over the last century, it clearly isn't dominated by genetic factors. Wanting to have children is far more memetic than genetic.
