This is not really accurate - defendants have a right to a jury trial, a right that they can waive for the opportunity to have a bench trial (trying their case before a “professional judge”). The prosecution has zero say in whether or not a

I love learning from my mistakes! I misread the preamble (for lack of a better word) to the Animal Welfare Act’s Federal website. It says it is the only Federal Law addressing animals... or the research of: https://www.nal.usda

Exactly. The only Federal Law re animals is the Animal Welfare act, which only has to do with research animals. All 50 states have animal cruelty laws.

One great example of utility: my grandmother had a cookbook from the early 1900s that was truly farm (or forest) to table: it included instructions for catching and cooking squirrels, as well as the complete process for taking a chicken fro

I was about to write that this was not true, because I could not believe it, but boy was I wrong: “in the 2004-05 school year, 74% of college campuses had sworn officers with the power to arrest, and 90% of these departments were armed”. [0

I wonder how often these occur. When I was in my early 20s a buddy and I were about 18 hours in to a drive to Buena Vista, CO from Portland, OR, when a transformer exploded somewhere near us in a huge canyon. We thought it was noiseless nuc

It is a good practice to be aware of though - often constructive conversations can be derailed by well-intentioned but unintentional “but-what-about-X” arguments being introduced when no such arguments existed to begin with. It is a hard ha

This is absolutely not legal advice, but this author misunderatands what a confession of judgment is. A confession would be void if signed prior to debt being due, because you can only confess to debt that is defaulted on. See: https:/

That bums me out, but I get it. My first non hand-me-down car was a beat-up Audi A4 (manual) off craigslist that I loved for years and years as a ski bum. I am definitely one of the many "manual transmissions are more fun" people.
