I forgot about that! It is a very unique set of things that have accumulated around the gardens. I worked there through AmeriCorps in 04/05 and remember it fondly. I have always wondered why more small communities do not adopt a simila

This reminded me of The Oregon Garden (see below). The City of Silverton zaps all its waste water with UV light, after other treatment processes, leaving the water a few degrees too hot to put back in to the watershed. So, the water is then

AmTrak is primarily slower because all commercial freight has priority on the pitiful amount of track we have in the US (the NW/West coast routes are what I know best) so passenger trains have to regularly sit around waiting for freigh

My hunch is that, at least as far as the originals are concerned, Disney+ will only have the butchered-Gredo-never-shoots versions of 4-6. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and track down Harney’s Despecilized Edition of 4-6 those are

“Free” is only slightly hyperbolic. My mother went to the University of Washington for her undergraduate studies in the 50s/60s and paid $25/credit for classes. She covered that, easily, by working part-time. No loans.

I could not agree more. Public transit in the Portland (Oregon) metro area was much better (easier to access, predictable, faster, weather tolerant) when they prioritized buses and had no LRT. Now that the city is all-in on LRT the bus syst

Agreed - I was oversimplifying. A better way to put it would be to say that ISPs automatically participate in the reporting of alleged copyright infringement, as well as mete out punishment for alleged infringement when they decide it is ap

Any (large?) ISP will report your torrenting and/or terminate your internet usage if you torrent anything they deem copyrightable. Both Comcast and Spectrum do this, at least. Edit, to add: No VPNs do this.

It really is a pox of a product. I’m in the process of buying a house and any listings with Nest products I just skip. I know it is negligible, financially and physically, to remove them, but why even bother when there are plenty of options
